Home is were your heart is

Coming back from Dublin made me think about one more thing. I've been amazed be many places in my life till now and I've decided to make a list of the ones that I could see my self living at (in alphabetical order):
  • Barcelona - I just love that city, many parks, nice architecture
  • Berlin - big and has everything one needs, few days I've spent there I really liked it and I also heard it's great for young people
  • Brussels - well, I like Belgium and Belgian people and Brussels is the center of the country, has everything you need and you can easily reach other beautiful parts of the country
  • California - not exactly a city, but as the Sunscreen song says, "live in California once, but leave before it makes you soft", also American branding made this something I want to experience (but not settle there for sure)
  • Copenhagen - again, just love the city, plus I'm kind of personally connected to it (right, love)
  • Dublin - nice city, a bit cold, but has a great international spirit
  • New York - again, the same song says "live in New Your once, but leave before it makes you hard"
  • Somewhere in Austrian Alps - mountains give me energy and make me feel peace, specially in this country
Interesting how for now all of them (expect the last) metropolitan places. I guess it's because how one feels at this age - energetic and the need to be in the center of everything. How knows, maybe I decide to try each of them in the next few years until I settle in Alps. Should I go in this order?

Couch and Surf

How are these two words connected? One seem to be a pleasant piece of furniture that we use to relax and watch a TV or chat with friends or have a nap on. The other one refers to a activity, either adrenalin filled one when the waves are involved, or the nerdish one when the Internet is involved. But put them together and you get a wonderful experience and I would even dare to say culture of CouchSurfing. It's a place where you can find very interesting people that have two things in common: we all love to travel and meet new people. I cannot write the secert of it here, because each person should find it's own way to it. What I want to use this post here is to give tribute to all the people that take part in this project and say that once again I was plesently surprised and had a great CS experience.

In my reacent trip to Dublin, I found my self on the middle of the street, in the middle of the night, with no place to sleep at. I was not worried that much, because I was sure I can go to some club and just party out the night. But still, getting few hours of sleep would be nicer, taking in acount that a full day of sightseeing was infront of me. And here comes the magic. I did find a place and in the last moment and with a great company and though I didn't know anybody, the CS spirit was there connecting us. There is still some good and trust in the people, don't give up hope!

Home sweet home

4 days ago I moved in to my first rented apartment, thus my 2 year living in the dorm experience has ended. It was fun and though I started university in my home town and didn't think I'll ever experience the dorm life, I'm glad I did. It has it's charm. I would say the biggest advantage is social/fun aspect of having a lot of friends just down the corridor. Also, it's good practice for the patience, since you usually share space with many different people with different habits.

Sooner or later thought, comes time for moving into your own place, where you set your own rules and which has that special feeling of home.

There is only one question that bothers me. How to go back to living with your parents after this experiences (which I'll have to do when I go home)? Maybe the solution is just never to go back :-)
